Curl Curl

Curl Curl beach

Yes another post about another northern beach, I'll try and keep it short and sweet!

Curl Curl is our nearest beach, it's around a 20 minute walk from our apartment. Runnning along the eastern border, it is known for being one of the best surfing locations in Sydney.

Compared to all the
beaches we have visited it is by far the least commercialised.
The sandy beach extends for 1.2km and is backed by large sand dunes. There isn't a coffee shop, restaurant or bar in sight! I personally think that this makes it one of the best northern beaches. It's nice to go somewhere that isn't rammed full of tourists and experience a true local beach.

Another great thing about Curl Curl is it's rock pool. The pool has been built into the rock that separates Curl Curl from Dee Why, also known as Dee Why head. Not only is it a great place to swim but it is also great for rock climbing!

This rocky area is also a great spot for sunbathing. Marcus and I chose a perfect location right on top of a massive rock, however Marcus being the expert climber managed without any problems, whereas I on the other hand slightly struggled ...

After some sunbathing, I'm also proud to add that both of us managed our 2nd proper sea swim! I can now defiantly see why it's such a great surfing location as the waves were massive. Marcus was certainly amused at my struggle to frantically jump over the waves, only to fail and be taken out!
